Dear Justus,
At my job we are a team of 15. I'm fairly new, we are all young (recent college grads up until 3 years post graduation) and a lot of the people on my team are doing just enough to get by (not a terrible job but a mediocre job—due to the nature of the job we can see things other people have worked on as we're all constantly updating accounts and sometimes have to fix the errors of other staff members). I've been working hard and my manager recognizes that; she gives me more/harder work to do as she does with a few others who work hard because she trusts us. I'm worried now that other people on my team won't like me because they see me getting given bigger assignments. People always complain about favoritism in my department but I don't think they realize that the people who get the bigger assignments are putting in extra effort. I don't discuss what I'm working on with anyone but it always comes up in staff meetings when my manager asks everyone about the status of their projects.
No one has said anything to me but recently I've noticed if my manager asks me the status of project X, others look shocked like 'she's already trained to work on X?' And they always do complain about favoritism. What if people start to resent me?

Hello J.T.,
First and most important, It's not what people think, it's what God thinks! God show favor to whom he choose and there's nothing we can do about it. Keep doing what you do and don't heed to peer pressure because that will be conforming to this world's quality. People talked about Jesus, the one person who never gave in to sin so you know they will never decline to talk about you nor I. Stay the course! To be a leader is being different. So who cares about what someone thinks?- Especially if they don't support your being an overachiever. By the way, Congratulations!
