Justus,
I am an esthetician who works as a waxing specialist. A customer of mine came in a short while ago and admitted to driving to my salon while drunk. She mentioned she had almost crashed her car getting here, and I could literally smell the liquor on her breath. She is one of my regular customers, but I am very against drunk driving. How would I professionally handle this? I wanted to report it, but I didn't know what car she was driving or where she was headed. How should this be handled in the future? -- CONFLICTED IN SAN FRANCISCO

Hello Specia,
I understand your concern with anyone drinking and driving. Drinking and Driving has cost the lives of so many people unnecessarily. Mothers Against Drunk Driving or MADD have accessible information and flyers that you can give out to this young lady as well as those you may feel the need. Don't ever feel intimidated to correct someone on their actions such as this. Remember this is a life threatening situation. One of my particular favorite pamphlets has information about how to report these individuals by name or license plate anonymously by calling the 800# listed on the website. It may vary by state but the information is available to all within the U.S. Try visiting the website provided and put that 800# to use the next time she or whoever else threatens their life and the life of someone else by drinking and driving. I congratulate you for wanting to take a stand. So often people don't and they allow the life of someone to be taken when they had the power to change the outcome of someone's irresponsible judgement.
