Hi JustUs,
I'm a senior in high school who is already taking college classes. I have told my mom I plan to become a special education teacher. I have been an aide in the special ed class for three years now, and I love it.
My mother and grandmother are not supportive. They keep trying to talk me out of going to college to do what I love. They say I should be a nurse, so I can earn better money, and they tell me I won't be able to find a job if I become a special ed teacher. What should I do when they keep bringing this up?

Carrie,
You respectfully tell them that you do understand that they are looking out for your best interest as parents but God has put in your heart to be a special education's teacher. Most people respect the ''Big Guy'' and will dare go against his wishes. And it may well be true that it is your calling because it takes a special kind of person to want to do what your heart is set out so passionately to do. I'm proud of you to have the courage to pave your own path. Stand firm and do your thing, once your parents see the finish product they will understand. God bless!
